“So, who Is yolanda bouligny?”

I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas. Born in the 9th ward of N’awlins, Looziana (New Orleans, Louisiana) I learned early on about the stigma of seeking mental health care and the consequences of its absence in marginalized communities. I launched An Authentic Healing because that is exactly what I needed after Hurricane Katrina destroyed my entire hometown in 2005, leading me to start my rebuilding process in Texas. With so many different reactions to the same traumatic experience, I learned then that healing is personal, sacred, and unique to all individuals.

I earned my Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University and I am currently completing a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. I’ve worked in mental healthcare for more than 7 years in the following capacities: an HHSC-AMH Recovery Manager, Psychosocial Specialist, Live-in Group Home Manager, Teen Intensive Outpatient Instructor, and individual psychotherapist.

I offer a culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, integrative approach to therapy. My services are available, and uniquely designed, for individuals. I aim to create a safe space and support you as we navigate your healing process together.
